Rocks and it types
1. Study of rocks is called = Petrology
2. The region the rocks are formed inside the earth is called = Rock former zone
3. Rocks are basically divided into three types = Igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic rocks
4. Igneous rocks are those rocks which are formed bythe solidification of molten Rocky matter
5. Igneous rocks are divided into extrusive rocks and intrusive rocks
6. Intrusive rocks are further divided into Plutonic rocks and Intrusive rock
7. Example for extrusive rock = Basalt
8. Example for intrusive rocks = Batholith, Laccoliths , sill,and Dike rock
9. Example for Plutonic rock = Granite
10. The size of the crystals are largest in Plutonic rock
11. In Plutonic rocks their will not be layers , fossils,joints
12. Sedimentary rocks is one which is formed by the sedimentation of material
13. Sedimentary rocks is of following types = 1. Mechanical sedimentary rocks
2. Chemical sedimentary rocks
3. Calciferous sedimentary
4. Carboniferrous sedimentary rocks
14. Metamorphic rocks = If one rock that is formed in nature that changes in to other form the process is called Metamorphosis
15. The process involved may be because of temperature, pressure that is why it is called Thermal metamorphosis .
